Community Television
I got my start in community television as a volunteer producer in Austin, TX for a weekly series called "Asian American Austin." I was fascinated by the eclectic group that hung out at the station. I saw not only the educational potential, but the democratizing impact of a community media center like cable access TV. Enthusiastic to share my vision, I participated in an international educators' conference in Japan to explain how teachers had a unique opportunity to broadcast educational subjects to a larger audience in the community. Later I worked at WCTV, a public access station located on the Indiana University - East campus in Richmond, IN for two years during which time I was an operations director, lead production workshops and produced numerous programs for the univerisity, youth media literacy program, non-profits and local government programming. Below are a few samples.
